Collecting a registration fee with plans

Plans include a configurable registration fee that bills the member as soon as they enroll. This article covers how the fee behaves across plan types, how it interacts with discounts, and when it applies through self-enrollment.

Setting the fee on a plan

The Registration Fee is a field on the plan itself, configured from the Plans page. Set the amount, optionally change the description, and save. From that point on, any new enrollment on that plan will trigger the fee.

How it applies across plan types

The registration fee is either added as a line item to the first enrollment invoice, or billed on its own separate invoice, depending on the plan type. In either case, the fee is invoiced immediately upon enrollment.

Added as a line item to the first invoice:

  • One Time Up Front

  • One Time Up Front (Installments) — on the first installment

  • Non-Repeating Packs (Installments) — on the first installment

  • Subscriptions / Subscriptions with Credits

Billed on its own standalone invoice:

  • Pay As You Go

  • Postpay

  • Auto-Invoice Before Each Session

Depends on enrollment timing:

Monthly Prepaid, Weekly Prepaid, Repeating Packs, and Non-Repeating Packs add the fee to the first enrollment invoice if one is generated immediately; otherwise it is billed on its own invoice.

Self-enrollment and self-scheduling

The Registration Fee applies when the plan is used through self-serve flows, not just admin-driven enrollments. Specifically, it is charged when a member signs up through:

  • A self-enrollment form, when enrolling in all sessions

  • A self-scheduling link for a recurring weekly time slot

The member sees and pays the fee as part of that flow.

Discounts and adjustments

Discount behavior on the registration fee invoice has two rules worth knowing:

  • Recurring adjustments do not apply to the registration fee invoice. If you have a recurring discount on the enrollment, it will only affect regular billing invoices, not the registration fee.

  • One-time adjustments attach to the first invoice. When a registration fee invoice exists, it is the first invoice — so a one-time discount lands on the registration fee rather than on the first billing-period invoice.

If you want a one-time discount to reduce the member's first tuition invoice instead of the registration fee, keep that ordering in mind when you set things up.
