Troubleshooting "Member does not have valid credits" errors
Last updated: June 17, 2026
When you mark attendance, Noto checks that the member has eligible credits for the session if the member is enrolled using a credit based plan. If it can't find any, you'll see an error explaining why. This article walks through how to read the message, what to check on the member's profile, and how to issue new credits when needed.
What the error is telling you
Noto returns a specific message depending on the credit state:
"This member's credits have expired." Credits exist but are past their expiration date.
"This member's credits have been used up." Credits exist but every use has been consumed.
"No valid packages found for this member." The member has no credits on file at all.
Each state needs a different fix, so start by noting which message you saw.
Check the member's credit profile
Open the member from the Members page and review the credits listed on their profile. Three things to verify:
Expiration date. Is any credit past its expiration? Expired credits won't be applied to a session even if uses remain.
Remaining uses. Has the credit been fully consumed? If the count is at zero, the member needs more.
Eligibility. Each credit must be set to apply to the correct enrollment or service. A credit with no eligibility configured — or one tied to a different service than the session you're marking — will not match. This is the most common cause of a "no valid credits" error when credits visibly exist on the profile.
If the credit looks valid but still isn't matching, eligibility is almost always the reason. Edit the credit and confirm the enrollment or service is selected.
Issue more credits
If the member is out of credits, or their existing ones have expired, add new ones from:
1. the Finances page under Credits, using the Add Credit action OR
2. Navigate to the member profile, select Credits, and select "+ Add a new credit pack"
When you add the credit:
Select the correct, active member.
Set the eligibility to the enrollment or service that the member is enrolled in. Without this, the new credit will hit the same error the next time you mark attendance.
Once the new credit is saved with the right eligibility, return to the session and mark attendance again.
