Segmenting members by service enrollment
Last updated: August 18, 2026
Noto's Marketing Suite includes two audience filters that let you target customers based on the services they're enrolled in: Currently Enrolled Services and Previously Enrolled Services. Together they let you split your audience into people who are actively taking a service versus people who used to take one but no longer do.
You'll find these filters inside the campaign builder, which lives under Marketing Tools in your dashboard.
What each filter does
The two filters are partitioned by enrollment status on the customer's Noto record:
Currently Enrolled Services returns customers whose enrollment in the selected service is active. Use this when you want to reach students who are currently taking something — for example, sending a recital reminder to everyone in your active piano lessons, or announcing a schedule change to your current group class families.
Previously Enrolled Services returns customers whose enrollment in the selected service is inactive — they were enrolled at some point, but aren't now. Use this for win-back campaigns, alumni updates, or promoting a new offering to families who've tried a related service before.
Note: "Previously Enrolled" reflects enrollments that have been deactivated. Archived services and archived enrollments are not included in this filter and will not appear as selectable options.
A service will appear in one bucket or the other for a given customer based purely on whether their enrollment is active or inactive. If a customer has active and inactive enrollments across different services, each service lands in the appropriate filter.
Using the filters in a campaign
Open Marketing Tools from the dashboard.
In the campaign audience builder, add a filter and choose either Currently Enrolled Services or Previously Enrolled Services.
Select one or more services to include.
Combine with other filters as needed to narrow your audience, then continue building your campaign.
Good to know
"Previously enrolled" is not the same as "never enrolled." If you want to reach customers who have no enrollments at all — for example, parent contacts who signed up but never booked — use the empty-enrollment filter rather than Previously Enrolled Services. Previously Enrolled requires that the customer had an enrollment at some point.
The two filters are independent. A single customer can match both — for example, someone actively taking guitar who used to take piano will appear under Currently Enrolled Services for guitar and Previously Enrolled Services for piano.
